Real estate agents will discuss the NYS "Source of Income - (SOI) law, in place as of April 2019 and it's history. 

Also discussed: The history of the Fair Housing Act of 1968; Civil Rights Act of 1968 and the Protected Classes; and the history of segregation; discrimination; access to housing and how real estate agents must work hard to ty to eliminate any stigma.

Steering, Blockbusting, Redlining and Housing Discrimination and the disparate impact on marginalized communities, will be addressed.

We will discuss the roles of real estate agents and how best to advocate for persons utilizing SOI and the resources available for filing a complaint. 

Finally, we will discuss best practices that brokerages, management companies, agents, homeowners-landlords, must put in place to get the job done properly, which is to provide access to housing for all.

Dorothy Botsoe
Dorothy Botsoe is a real estate powerhouse with over 25 years of experience in Lower New York and the Broker-Owner of Dorothy Jensen Realty, Inc. She was President of the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors when they welcomed a merge with NYC, specifically Manhattan. Botsoe is currently a NYS certified instructor and teaches Agency, Fair Housing, Ethics, Salespersons Licensing, Implicit and Explicit Bias, Short Sales and Distressed properties. She is a native of Ghana, West Africa and received her BA from SUNY Purchase with a background in Business Administration.
